VOID: A magazine about nothing | ISTD 2020 entry

VOID is a magazine, literally, about nothing. In response to the ISTD's significance of numbers brief to make numbers and mathematics engaging through typography, I chose to explore zero. Not just in a mathematical sense (i.e. the surprisingly detailed history of its origin as a symbol despite its seemingly straightforward simplicity) but in terms of cultural notions and scientific dilemnas. Throughout the piece, two typefaces (Garamond and Franklin Gothic) and two colours (black and white) reinforce the idea of binaries (0 and 1), and typography is used precisely to illustrate some of the concepts and ideas discussed in the articles.
