Vol. 33: Health Issue // What to Pack Product Shoot for SUITCASE Magazine

What to Pack is another regular feature outlining our pick of the coolest clothes and accessories to take on your travels this season. This has evolved significantly since I started at SUITCASE, originally consisting of items shot on a white background. We then started shooting these as flatlays on a colour background, but still felt there was room to improve. In early 2019 I was asked to redesign the section with a higher budget and art direct a new type of shoot using a mix of models and still-life products. With the still life in my opinion being much stronger, we cut the models and put the leftover budget towards props. The result can be seen in the example for Vol. 30, The Health Issue, which features old-school gym equipment – which with the readers being on average 25 – 40, will give a nostalgic feel – but with a strong coloured background to keep it feeling contemporary.
