Welcomefest 2018

A 3 week bespoke welcome festival for new and existing students at Greenwich Students' Union. The new venue opening was delayed due to building works and I was tasked to deliver a 3 week event, with a deadline of 4 weeks, that would cater to all students. Events included: silent discos, cocktail master classes, pimp your prosecco, DJ-ing competitions, live music, karaoke and well being afternoons. Over the 3 weeks we had over 4,000 visitors. I had a very difficult task turning a very small area, with varying terrains, into a comfortable outdoor space. I hired several stretch tents that could be moulded to the space and added extra lycra to the sides to make it more weather proof. Festoons, fairy lights and up lighters were used to create a cozy and intimate atmosphere at night along with pallet sofas, bean bags and Bavarian style beer tables. We decorated the trees with streamers and dotted Chinese lanterns within the stretch tent to break up the space.
