Why Should We Care About Chinese Cinema

I wanted to look at how through film, we can gain a better understanding about aspects of Chinese society and daily life outside of the mainstream narrative, especially considering everything that was going on at the time regarding COVID-19. I wanted to show people that Chinese society is active and engaging in the same sorts of socio-political conversations that we expect to see in ‘western cinema’.
