I have worked within the Hackney Community for various years, creating and working within political spaces for POC, WOC and marginalised groups, exploring ways to express art, community and create safe spaces to support one another. This led for me to be commissioned by the Tara Hudson (Communications Officer of Hackney Council) to lead a project creating centre pieces for the Windrush Tea Party 2018 in Hackney Town Hall . Over 300 guests attended in celebration and remembrance of the Windrush Generation. I held this project close to my heart as I have Caribbean St. Lucian heritage and connected strongly with the cultural identity of this event. Duties- Event Producing: I fulfilled the brief of the Windrush Tea Party accordingly, ensuring all research, planning, budgeting and marketing was prioritised and achieved prior to the event. I used various tools such as Hubspot, Facebook & Instagram social media channels, Eventbrite, Microsoft Excel and Google docs to carry out all tasks, ensuring visibility was clear and expectations could be met across all teams. Working to tight deadlines and delivery: I fulfilled a brief to create centrepieces and set dress the venue for the Windrush Tea Party that took place in Hackney Town hall, seating 300 guests and 20 speakers. I liaised with guest speakers for the panel discussion event ensuring they were aware of the venue facilities taken care of and prepared for the event. Workshop Facilitating: I hosted a craft workshop for a part of this event. Ensured all materials were sourced prior to the workshop date. Promoted the workshop through Hackney Council, marketing materials and social media. The finished centre pieces were placed on the tables of the Windrush Tea Party for all guests to enjoy.
