Wither

Wither: communicating the theme of loss. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a deteriorating condition which targets a subject’s brain and nerves. It causes them to wither away; resulting in a loss of movement, strength and difficulties in breathing. It can affect the human body in different ways but common areas which are targeted are the body’s limbs. To this date there is no cure. A custom typeface was designed to reflect this experience in order to communicate the disease to a wider audience. The typeface acts as joints which are beginning to lose strength at the roots. Photographs were also taken with white paint to demonstrate the areas where MND can occur in the body.
