Wormholes - 20th Biennale of Sydney

A short film about a collaborative design project with the 20th Biennale of Sydney and local creative agencies, For the People and Grumpy Sailor in May 2016.
The 20th Biennale of Sydney featured art from 83 different artists around the world over an 80 day period. For this biennale they were housed in a series of “embassies” created in both major galleries and on the streets.
The Biennale’s artistic director Stephanie Rosenthal invited Google and Grumpy Sailor to create one additional embassy. A virtual embassy to digitally connect the different physical locations around Sydney. We called these connections ‘Wormholes’.
Rosenthal chose as her title William Gibson’s idea that ‘the future is already here - it's just not evenly distributed'
“I conceived ‘embassies of thought’ for the 20th Biennale as temporary settings without borders. The embassy themes were inspired by the individual histories of each venue, while the ‘in between’ [explored] virtual and physical worlds.” - Stephanie Rosenthal
Based on a concept by the Biennale’s creative agency For The People, the Wormholes sought to remind us that our reality, and our culture, is also redistributed and reflected online.
