‘Even Though We Didn't Go Through It’
‘Even Though We Didn't Go Through It’ will present two simultaneous overlapping installations of undocumented narratives in the South Korean and Lebanese History.
The project presents interventions on undocumented timelines of two nations that suffered rapid fluctuating political conditions in the last century. As glorified moments have been captured in official documentation, a lot of other moments were left untraced. ‘Even though we didn't go through it’ digs deep into suppressed collective memories to fill gaps in personal memories.
‘Would I Fit in Yours ..if?’
Since 2005, Beirut has been suffering from constant socio-political conflicts, echoing some events of 1975 Lebanese war. The city is defined to be in a constant situation undergoing change.
This unstable situation often triggers personal uncertainties and drives imagination to look answer for the obscure present by digging in the past. ‘Would I Fit in Yours ..if?’ , a performative installation, grows out of a personal conversation to reflect and illuminate undocumented narratives happening during the post 2005 Lebanese political conflict. An analogy between the current events and the 1975 events is conducted to reconstruct social and historical narratives. The search for answers evolves to unveil, the female perspective of these conflicts. Series of conversations between two female generations unfold experienced personal trauma and volatilities. This radical trauma stimulates the feel of personal worthiness as a Lebanese woman to be part of ideological conflicts.
