YCN Student Awards - BEAR yoyo cards

  • Genevieve O'Sullivan

THE COMPANY

BEAR is a company that makes heathy dried fruit snack for children. In each pack of Yoyos there's a BEAR card for the children to collect.

COMPETITION BRIEF

Design a new series of Yoyo cards that capture the attention of children, inspire creativity, and impart knowledge at the same time. The theme should be engaging for boys and girls aged 4 to 9.

RATIONALE

I chose the theme of art and design as I feel that these subjects are undervalued in schools and often not considered viable career options by peers and parents. Art and design surround us constantly, and children are always creating their own pieces from their untamed imaginations, which should be nurtured and encouraged.

STORY

Bear is in search of the most exceptional, eccentric, and exclusive art pieces from all corners of the world to decorate their cave.

ON THE CARDS:

  • There are various tools pertaining to the artwork present such as paintbrushes, spray cans, pens, and more.
  • Creative Calculator: so children can compare the cards with each other, similar to the game of Top Trumps.
  • I purposely didn’t label the colours and tools so that the children can freely interpret them and gain a more self-directed learning experience.
  • Text about the creator's most renowned masterpiece and delve into their personal background.
  • Telling Truth: information that will excite children and inspire them to proudly demonstrate their knowledge to their parents.
  • Creative Challenge: will encourage children to ignite their imagination and create their own unique works.
