YEARBOOK 2020

When lockdown restrictions came into effect in the UK the team at Shutter Hub wanted to do what we could for photographers. We started by making membership bursaries available and as we went through the applications we could see that many of the applicants were from students who were due to have graduate shows, which were now cancelled indefinitely, despite all the time and money they had put into preparing for them. Having been photography graduates ourselves we understood how upsetting that must be, and as working photographers now we knew that it wasn't just graduates who needed extra promotion and a feeling of community at this time. So we came up with YEARBOOK - to try to fill the gap left by those graduate shows, but for all photographers. YEARBOOK consisted of three parts - an online exhibition that could reach as many people as possible, that everyone who entered would be part of, as they would be in a graduate show, awards from high profile industry sponsors and a tangible, beautiful printed element that people could hold in their hands and flick through to find new photographers to work with. The variety and quality of the work we received was astounding and we hope that bringing all these photographers together in this way will lead to the cross-pollination of networks that graduate shows are so good at, the discovery of new photographers to collaborate with and plenty of opportunities for work! If you'd like a copy of YEARBOOK 2020 don't delay - the first print run sold out really fast and the second (and final) is accepting orders until 31 October 2020 via shutterhub.org.uk
