Zeballos Gold Coffee

Illustrated Logo for coffee company

This illustrated logo was commissioned by my client Karoline Ouellet to reflect her aspiration to bring together community, mining history and coffee in a little known town in Northern Vancouver Island. The logo is informed as well by an old story that I unearthed on You Tube (research = better ideas) about how some of the early gold miners to Zeballos set off two charges only to see gold dust rain down on them. That being said I had to wade through things like THIS, not helpful really, to get there.
Creating the logo is one thing, having a design applied via a supplier you don’t know is another. It is always possible that too much faith is put in one’s idea of the finished product rather than actually how it is going to be executed. To this end if I know what applications are going to be involved I can make sure it is done well (including drawing up spec sheets)so that my client wants to pose next to their trailer.
While I couldn’t be there for the trailer unboxing the outcome was great!
While I don’t design to win awards, I design to solve a client’s problem, I do occasionally enter my designs into competitions. This logo was shortlisted (it was one of 30, out of 1000+ entries) for a Trademark Design award in Communication Arts, the leading trade journal for visual communications, and the largest creative magazine in the world.
