About me
I am Abhishek, an MA Photography graduate from University for the Creative Arts, Rochester. The education in the visual arts has enabled me to develop an understanding of the visual form, on the surface of a paper or a screen as a photographer and the understanding in its aesthetics.
A Computer Science Engineer turned photographer, having worked as an Assistant Photographer under Aneev Rao, a fashion photographer in India, I have a clear idea of how demanding and challenging the creative work environment is. My recent internship at Lebrecht Music & Arts Photo Library as a Retoucher taught me the importance of handling old documents with precision.
I have an immense amount of experience in post-processing of images (analog/digital), retouching, managing studio space and logistics and liaising with agencies and parties for smooth operations.
Projects
- Minimalist EnquiryThe project explores opposite art styles and movements - minimalism and abstract expressionism, to find the common and contrasting points, then uses them to create a new style in fashion design. This style is for people who want to break the shackles and be free, refined but a little bit random, flamboyant yet reserved.
- BanalityIs a photograph a 'document' of the real? If the depth of the photograph is reduced and the nature of the scene becomes unclear, doesn't it create a tension in the image — that of not knowing. The camera, as a reality reproducing device when creates representations of reality that challenges interpretation creates a psychic space, as Walter Benjamin said by “stripping places and objects of their banal obviousness”. The details disappear into featureless shadows and in another way limits the viewer to see only what is offered, although, in your imagination, have you not peered beyond the foreground into a distant place?
