I'm a freelance journalist and part-time marketer. This means that as well as understanding how to write clearly and engagingly for both print and digital outlets, I also understand the importance of analytics, content strategy and social media. I research and write in-depth features, conduct interviews, and I write reviews and blogs. My chief areas of expertise are culture and lifestyle, although I also have a keen interest in current affairs, politics and equal rights. For instance, a blog I wrote on America's race relations during the Ferguson riots was quoted in the Washington Post. My articles regularly receive over 10,000 unique views and generate good social media engagement.
I write comic book reviews and features for this magazine.
I blog about books for this American website.
I started as a freelance blogger for Metro before being asked to join them in-house for irregular shifts when they were short-staffed. I was the first freelance blogger they ever asked to come in-house.
I handle the marketing for this recruitment firm. In my time with the company, I have created and populated a company blog, established a social media presence for the firm and worked with a creative team to create a new brand and website design. The rebrand is still pending.
I write features, reviews and interviews for this magazine. I have also produced in-depth investigative pieces for them on subjects including Young Adult literature and self-publishing, all backed up with extensive interviews.
I handled event and membership marketing for this magazine and training provider for business-to-business marketers. I boosted attendance of the annual B2B Awards by 20% during my time as Marketing Manager.
I handled account management tasks as well as web and email content, and took on responsibility for the B2B Marketing Awards. After growing awards entries by 30%, I was offered the promotion to Marketing Manager.
