I was elected to the newly established position of Vice President of this postgraduate student organisation by the student body of Keele University. I was the first such individual to be made a secondary postgraduate officer in UK higher education; in the months following my appointment, other student unions across the country began making similar postings for additional postgraduate student support.
Responsibilities included; building student engagement in academic matters, handling charity finances, representation of postgraduate students on over 30 university committees on academic and welfare matters, chairing meetings and producing minutes and agendas, policy formulation, academic complaints and discipline, marketing of postgraduate academic and social events, managing multiple email and social media accounts, managing web pages and SEO, liaising on postgraduate marketing strategy, commissioning and producing publicity, and steering policy and decision making as a member of the Board of Trustees.
