Afeni is a London based creative, studying at University of The Arts London with a keen focus in using fashion as a tool to communicate editorial narratives as a form of activism. Afeni explores racial and gender issues and it’s affect on societal positioning and identity. Areas of interest are within creative direction and fashion communication. She aims to collaborate fashion and media to develop creative solutions to provoke awareness. Afeni is a developing artist, establishing her personal style and discovering her practise to challenge and contribute to how creative projects such as fashion shows and industry events use their platforms to form conversations around accessibility and diversity through immersive production. With a goal to be involved in projects from the ground up, her incentive is to help build ideas into visual realities. Working as a website developer for an independent programme that supports the creation of safe spaces that offer opportunities for marginalised groups away from oppressive structures within both educational and social systems. Encouraging challenging conversations surrounding social justice and racial division by updating and developing media content through WordPress and Google Spreadsheet.
Curating showcases and networking event for young emerging artists wanting a career within the creative industries and other expansive events at both Tate Britain and Tate Modern. Also collaborating with multidisciplinary artists and professionals in support of the Tate Routes In: Alternative Careers Fair and Late At Tate. Duties included delivering presentations and pitching ideas to clients, focusing on the barriers and solutions of young artists entering the creative industries.

BA (Hons) Contemporary Media Cultures explores what it means to study media and culture in a contemporary context and through a critical perspective. With a strong focus on key concepts in media and cultural studies, it investigates the role that media, cultural and creative processes play in shaping today’s world. Approaching topics such as gender, class and race from theoretical perspectives and understanding the role in which media takes to present these issues through digital platforms and how these themes are therefore perceived once communicated this way.
This Fashion and Textiles Level 3 course is a comprehensive introduction to the skills required to embark on a career in fashion and textiles. Creative and practical techniques in studios and specialist workshops. This includes fabric printing, hand and machine knitting, pattern cutting, fashion design and illustration, historical issues in art and design, and fashion professional practice. Coursework is project-based throughout and the briefs reflect the day-to-day reality of the Fashion and Textile industry. Assessment is through coursework and final show.
