Gami Concept Award 2016University of Amsterdam
For the assessment-tool gamificaton concept; DJ Maow.
The task was to gamify a compex chessboard task for young adolescents between 14-21 with ADHD.
We wanted to make it more fun and engaging without loosing focus on the original task. Children with a psychopathological disorder are less motivated from extrinsic rewards, and our challlenge was to strenghten egagement in order to optimize the performance of the participants and asset the working memory.
The complex chessboard task consists of 7 sequences. In DJ Maow, every sequence coincides with a stage or level, resulting in 7 different levels, each with its own theme. On every planet (stage), the player will encounter a different aesthetic: different audience, different Aliens and so on. Every aspect is designed to be varied but at the same time not distracting.
