I am currently working at the head office of The Hawksmoor restaurants as part of the central reservations team. I also work with the marketing team in helping coordinate events. Key roles and responsibilities: • Acting as the initial representative for customers, hotel and lifestyle concierges, press and suppliers • Making restaurant and private dining reservations for all four restaurants • Actively seeking to improve my product and service knowledge • Keeping up to date with all company marketing and events • Carrying out VIP bookings • Retrieving any previous receipts via Aloha on request • Proofreading company literature • Fielding and dealing with all event enquiries via email or telephone • Managing event budgets • Processing reservation reports through the Open Table database As well as developing my experience in coordinating live events, I have enhanced my organisational and multitasking skills.
I worked as part of the front of house team to guide and assist festival guests and attendees with any enquiries. This position required very good customer service skills.
My part time position enabled me to work in the retail sector of a company which prides itself on fostering creativity and individuality in its selling. Key roles and responsibilities: • High level of customer care and personal selling • Corresponding with other UK-based stores • Continually striving to improve personal product knowledge • Always ensuring good visual standards in store • Staying aware of current inspirations behind the clothing concepts within the Anthropolgie store through the company intranet • Maintaining an up to date knowledge of contemporary magazines and online media I gained skills in customer service and personal selling. Further involvement led to training new members of staff and assisting in the running of in store events.
I was involved in the running of the industry events taking place throughout the festival including panel discussions, one on one meetings and networking sessions. I was responsible for setting up function spaces and monitoring events, as well as liaising with industry delegates. I gained experience working with live events.
This department was key to steering the annual concept throughout, which this particular year focused on fashion and creative culture in a time of recession. Working to a tight budget I organised photo shoots, sourced fashion and worked with the make up artist in developing editorial designs for over 30 models. I helped to run the social media and also initiated a creative blog to enhance the online presence of the event. This role enabled me to develop skills in production, project management and social media.
I was employed as part of the dental team at Stable Court Dental Surgery as a receptionist dealing with the general public and adhering to strict regulations and protocols. I also developed promotional literature for the practice.
I assisted in the management of the database for the 27th Interfilm international short film festival and the 4th Kuki film festival for children and young people. Key roles and responsibilities: • Handling all postal and online (shortfilmdepot.com) film submissions • Archiving film data in the festival database (FileMaker Pro 6) and managing the current festival library • Corresponding with German and international film makers • Researching film information for the archive, festival catalogue and database • Training a new member of staff in the workings of the festival database • Assisting in the screening and evaluating process for both the Interfilm and Kuki festivals which took place in November 2011 Working to deadlines allowed me to improve my time managment and organisational skills.
I had to ensure all press and industry attendees were registered for each screening along with any VIP guests and jury members. I also played a small role in the running of several festival events including the opening party. This position strengthened my interpersonal skills and ability to manage crowds.
Electives: Modern Middle Eastern History, Business Studies, Scandinavian Studies and Criminology. I spent my third year in Berlin studying for one semester at the Freie Universität and carrying out a five month internship at Interfilm. My final year dissertation was based on the book 'Austerlitz' by W.G Sebald exploring the construction of identity through photography.
