MA Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media The course was practice-based looking at techniques and processes for writing for stage and screen. We engaged in a series of writing projects for different styles and formats of production, studying writing techniques in relation to theatre, film, television and radio. The sessions taught the fundamentals of dramatic writing including structure, narrative, dramatic action, genre, character and many more. We approached writing as an individual, group writing and writing to a specific brief. Throughout the year we engaged in a range of projects to develop our skills as a dramatic writer, these included: forming in a group to write a television series, write a short play for the stage, write a short film script, write a radio play and the final project was to develop and write a complete dramatic script for production in any particular medium of our choice (I chose a television episode and series bible).

Performing Arts The course took a studio based approach to studies focusing on theatre, dance and performance. The degree offered the opportunity to work as a director, actor, dancer, choreographer and project leader. The skills that I learnt at the undergraduate level have given me a broad and versatile background into different avenues of the industry. During year one of the degree the basics to dance and theatre were explored, culminating in an end-of-year performance. In year two we applied the first year knowledge to both the development of choreographic practice and a full-scale production of dramatic text. In the final year I wrote a 10,000 word dissertation alongside performing, directing, and choreography and community performance practice. The three years involved practical and theory based assessments.
