Hi, I'm Akili! I am a recent (BA Hons) Graphic Communication and Illustration graduate from Loughborough University. Living in four different countries across two continents has given me invaluable insight into multiple different cultures, ideas and ways of life. This has allowed me to develop an open-mind and a creative thought process both within and outside my work such as my music production. My bachelor’s degree, previous graphic design internships, and personal projects have provided me with a great foundation in design with an in-depth knowledge of several Creative Cloud Apps and a multidisciplinary collection of design work. Take a look at my bechance portfolio which showcases more of my recent work (and features a snippet of my music) : https://www.behance.net/akilijlamob724 Feel free to message me for collaborations, work or just for a chat between creatives! :)Locked Pro Plan feature
Creativity & Animation I created conceptual storyboards featuring interactive engagements for use on smart devices for brands such as Starbucks, The Body Shop, Volkswagen, Philips and many more. I initially presented these storyboards as still designs to the client. I later animated them into video demos and finally prepared it to be built into a live interactive mobile advertisement. Time Efficiency Having several deadlines each day meant that I was always required to be on top of my work. Tasks included tackling new briefs and implementing changes into earlier storyboards at the request of clients. I also had to perform thorough research on each client as to be able to design a suitable storyboard that embodied their brand, style and product correctly.
Eager and Self-Motivated Learner As I was a designer for a team of auditors I learnt many new skills both within and outside of my creative scope. I had to firstly understand an auditor’s role and the types of clients the company deals with in order to clearly reflect their ideas and messages in proposals, flyers, brochures, and even a Deloitte Christmas calendar. I was required to do this whilst always maintaining the standards set by the company’s branding guidelines. Initiative & Responsibility The head designer at the company left partway through my internship, therefore I had to unexpectedly take on extra responsibility and a heavier workload as I was the only designer left in the team. I had to independently tackle design issues head-on and became the person to turn to for creative advice. Questions concerning the company’s branding guidelines were also directed at me, despite being at the company for such a short period of time. Time Management & Organisation Time management was crucial as deadlines were short and sudden. Feedback on designs was constant and would arrive in various forms (e.g emails, handwritten notes, telephone instructions). Being organised was key to ensure all feedback and changes were implemented into the designs whilst still meeting the deadlines.
