    • Contributed design concepts and ideas in meetings with the mural artist team as well as meetings with the company director and business manager. • Was involved in the creation of the mural mood board to ensure our artwork was consistent in style and colour as well as to give the company director and business manager a clear idea of what would be painted. • Collaboratively painted several walls having to be flexible in adapting to changes in the environment as there was construction work being conducted where we were painting. What I learned: How to collaboratively come up with creative and effective solutions, as well as balance the client needs to negotiate on an achievable design brief ideal to the client.

     - GreeceInternship
    • Relocated to Samos and Lipsi Islands, Greece throughout the internship. • Worked on collaborative design projects involving the creation of leaflets, posters, infographics, a banner, and a brochure for the organization using adobe software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. • Lead a collaborative project between the Media Team and the Marine Research and Conservation Team, designing and illustrating an invasive species identification poster using software such as Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. I ensured the team met the deadline for this project by orientating tasks fairly between members. The poster also increased the number of invasive species sighting calls made to the organization. What I learned: Adaptability to unfamiliar environments, independence, as well as how to quickly adapt to new software. I also learned how to delegate and accomplish tasks to ensure a project reaches completion.

Most modules studied were focused on developing professional outcomes for creative briefs focusing on the end-user and target audience as well as learning new digital skills in order to adapt them for various aspects of the projects given. For example, in our books and storytelling module, we were given the task of illustrating and printing a children’s dummy book using the Universities facilities. To complete this assignment, I researched the market to determine what would be appealing to the target audience. Then I created a mock book to test how the user would interact with it and how to best place my illustrations to improve the interaction and achieve the best possible experience for the user. After finishing my illustrations, I learned the Adobe InDesign program to format the pages of the book for print so they could be bound in the correct order and presented in a professional-looking manner.
