A protégé of John Mathieson BSC, award winning Director of Photography Alain Philippe Cross has had a strong passion for photography and art since his early childhood.
Alain enjoys working collaboratively across a wide range of formats including commercials, music promos, and documentaries, but it is with narrative story telling where Alain’s true passion lies.
Having shot his first feature film, “Here Lies”, a some years ago, his hunger for working on such productions alike, and collaborating with directors has only become greater.
Strong influences such as Johannes Vermeer, Edward Hopper, Georgio De Chrico, and Carravagio have always had an impact on Alain, and it is with these such inspirations that Alain drives upon creating such interesting visuals for an audience to react to. Whatever the project may be.
“Here Lies” has managed to pick up a number of awards while doing the festival circuit, including Best Film at the ECU European Independent film festival in Paris 2015, a special jury award at the Houston World Film Festival 2015, and has also earned Alain an award for Best Cinematography at the Idyllwild Film Festival 2016.
