About me
Alex Clapworthy is a versatile and experienced business development, product and project manager who has spent a decade developing and delivering creative visions for musicians, brands and visual artists. He originally trained as a doctor before taking a ‘year out’ to pursue his passion for The Arts. Alex planned and executed numerous global digital music product campaigns as an artist manager before becoming Business Manager for award-winning Parisian light art outfit Nonotak Studio. A highlight of this role was leading the development and delivery of an eighty-five foot bespoke programmable light installation for the launch of Cartier’s flagship ‘Santos’ watch at Pier 48, San Francisco. He lead delivery of experiential projects for Toyota Prius (USA), TATE Britain (UK), Adidas (South Korea), Puma (Spain), and oversaw set design and technology programming for DJ Snake’s ‘The Half’ music video. The film came together over a one week period across three continents and involved a twelve-thousand pound steel and glass hall of mirrors that had to be assembled by a specialist team. Shot in Los Angeles, it has amassed thirty-four million streams on YouTube. Alex subsequently became development manager at RIBA Award Winning design studio, Architecture Social Club. Here he looks after business affairs, flagship project delivery and manages relationships with key accounts like Nike, The Southbank Centre, The Crown Estate, Harvey Nichols, Live Nation Festivals and the Lyon Festival Of Light. He recently represented the company in South Africa at Cape Town’s Design Indaba design conference. Large scale international collaborations with many moving parts are the high stakes projects that make Alex tick. His ability to communicate and assimilate with creatives, technologists, scientists, distribution networks and business executives whilst always prioritising the needs of the end user or client is exceptional. Practical training in hospitals as a medical student, and experience working for small companies supplying the world’s biggest brands, grounds him. A reliance on market research through data, metrics and analytics provides focus when solving real world problems and providing maximum impact.
