  • High Functioning - High Functioning
High Functioning - High FunctioningThe intoxicated and intoxicating proto-punk / sub-metal of High Functioning’s self-titled debut EP throws three tracks of psycho-delic rock’n’roll right at you, pummeling your eardrums with a motorik heartbeat suffering from palpitations. This is a fast and furious record; a juggernaut thundering along the autobahn with the windows down and volume at full whack. Think the Stooges, think the MC5, think Can and think The Fall. High Functioning have coalesced their influences into something new,
  • Stillness - Pulvil
Stillness - PulvilSubtle, effective and affecting; the latest album from Canada’s prolific Pulvil is an album born out of global lockdowns and their reverberations on both the personal and public psyche. The album, a reflection on all of the events of the past year - the good, the bad and the neutral - can be appreciated by listening to it in a variety of moods and settings; it provides a space for your mind to breathe, to take in everything that could well have overwhelmed you and put it to one side. These are

Solstice (Live) - Kieran MahonDaedal drones anchor the latest ambient work by St. Leonard’s premier manipulator of loops and echoes. Kieran Mahon’s half hour single-track deep listen brings to mind wide-ranging works from the history of ambient music; from the groundbreaking compositions of Yoshio Ojima through to the work of ‘Lux’-era Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins and contemporaries such as The Leaf Library and Have A Nice Life. ‘Solstice (Live)’ is representative of the style he has developed over a varied career that has seen

Founded in 2018 - Airbag Records is a UK-based independent label obsessed with the outer limits of music; the extreme and the experimental. Drone-rock, weird pop, minimalist compositions, avant-jazz, punk, metal, improvised, ambient, art and noise - the progressive and the oblique. Co-founder of Airbag Records in 2018. Within the partnership I have my hand in all tasks that pass through Airbag HQ. To date, we have released two E.P's and one full length album, with two more coming later in 2021.

    • Sound synthesis and manipulation: using software instruments and out-board equipment. These projects depended on me getting to grips with new equipment & software quite quickly; testing new devices, discovering the limits and understanding the equipment beyond its intended use. • Studio recording techniques: namely genre specific recordings & whole band sessions. Recordings would have to be planned session by session before any recordings could take place; a heavy emphasis was placed on pre-production, planning & scheduling. • Case studies, presentations and research projects on individuals and approaches to composition. Most research was to be completed independently as research data was personal to my own projects; reporting back findings to both groups and individuals in writing and verbally, clearly and concisely. • All practical elements required write-ups with a detailed critical analysis; reports also required a breakdown of research, methodology and compositions.
