I am an enthusiastic media and communication specialist with a proven record in project delivery, stakeholder liaison and public relations. My key competencies are creating and managing campaigns from initial brief to execution. I aim for my practice to enhance reputation, ensure alignment with image and develop mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders and publics. Media Officer

My role as a Media Officer for the Engagement, Communication and Media team has required me to create and manage media opportunities and to engage and advise high level stakeholders. I have taken ownership of the department’s media opportunities diary and social media accounts, creating innovative materials and campaigns for them.
Responsibilities:
• Identify newsworthy opportunities and assess associated risks and relevance of each
• Brief ministerial office and coordinate production of high-quality media materials that support strategic direction
• Manage multiple campaigns on stringent timescales delivering collateral including media releases, speeches and hot issues briefs
• Identify and mitigate potential issues and risks through daily media monitoring and research, providing advice to senior team members and stakeholders
• Manage requests for interviews and prepare talent
• Prepare strategic media responses and activities to achieve corporate objectives
• Liaise and build rapport with journalists and news outlets
• Increase departments social media following whilst facilitating engagement
• Deliver strategic crisis management materials and schedules that support key messaging
• Plan and implement successful public relations strategies in conjunction with various external stakeholders
• Engage with corporate partners to develop successful joint opportunities
• Develop content for the department’s e-news and other forms of digital promotion (Sprout Social and Vision6 used)
• Manage regional officers to ensure necessary reports are completed within set time frames
• Manage stakeholder expectations and relationships in a personable and outcome focused manner.
Key achievements:
• $180,090 valued advertising space rate achieved over 13 days, with an initial budget of $0 for the Regional Queensland Showcase
• Revised format of ministerial media opportunities package to allow better promotion of departmental activities
• Established a media protocol for regional reporting to recognise events and achievements.
