About me
I am currently in my first year of an AHRC-funded Collaborative Doctoral Research project with the University of Portsmouth and the Science Museum Group: ‘Eye Appeal is Buy Appeal: the design, mediation and consumption of Kenwood appliances from 1947-2020. I have a particular interest in the transition of objects from the everyday to the elevated and will be looking at the reframing of labour values in 20th century domestic kitchen, the anthromorphisation of designed objects and the performative nature of the selling of consumer goods. I am skilled at responding to a tight brief, commissioning and seeing a project through from start to finish. I relish finding new ways of telling stories, sharing ideas and playing a part in the collaborative process. I can offer a practical approach, a light touch and no little degree of energy to any job that I undertake. Inventiveness, word play, and a sense of mischief are key to my approach to work. I am focussed, quick thinking and resourceful with a keen eye for detail and a deft visual language

I co-authored the 2018 Discover London Neighbourhoods brochure for the travel trade which was published widely across the business: invaluable experience for understanding how to talk to multiple audiences. I created and project managed an all day event for 30 members of the global travel trade to showcase London’s hidden places which led to an increase in visitor numbers in the highlighted areas. Developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the UK and in global markets was a key part of my work and led to successful working partnerships with a range of institutions throughout London and the UK.

I designed and oversaw the projects from concept to delivery including brand evaluation, development and digital content creation. I co-created and bought to market products for the Alumni of Emmanuel College, Cambridge and consulted on an alumni merchandise project for Jesus College, Oxford. I brokered opening conversations and met with a number of establishments including Kettle's Yard in Cambridge and Exeter College, Oxford. My interactions with these long-established institutions has given me excellent grounding in relationship building with a range of academic bodies. An important strand of our projects was the undertaking of in-depth research into the history and legacy of Oxford and Cambridge University and enabled me to gain excellent skills into archival research and extracting and utilising the material in ways that were relevant, insightful and imaginative.
