About me
I am a documentary and portrait photographer whose creative output explores contributions made by the Pakistani diaspora within the United Kingdom. Identity, heritage, womanhood, femininity and personal narratives are all themes that form the bedrock of my work to fully understand the place of the Islamic South Asian woman in our society. Independently of my projects, I have worked largely within the music industry to assist labels and artists in realising their creative visions whether undertaking promotional shoots; photography for album artwork; magazine content and general marketing material.

  • They Came Before Us
They Came Before UsI was one of 50 women and non-binary people of colour who took part in the They Came Before Us project that aimed to shed light on the stories of forgotten women of colour in British History. I was a member of the team that created a short biopic of Queen Philippa of Hainault, the first Black Queen of England. The film was shown in the They Came Before Us exhibition just off Brick Lane and again in Wood Green. The project lasted five weeks. Members were active in all aspects of film making.
