I’m a hard-working, highly motivated graduate currently working as an editor and freelance journalist with experience commissioning, proofreading and writing to deadlines, basic computer literacy, good communication skills and fluency in Panjabi. Earlier this year I co-founded Ruthless Magazine, an e-mag focused on music, fashion and youth culture. As editor, my responsibilities include commissioning and approving pitches for articles, chasing up drafts, editing, proofreading, formatting, sourcing images and scheduling social media for articles. As a journalist I regularly contribute profile pieces, interviews, gig and exhibit reviews, and continuing to develop the magazine’s business plan. I'm currently planning for future photoshoots, live sessions and gigs with my Editor-in-Chief.

The part-time position was based in the company office in Hackney, where long hours were routine, work was often taken home and each member of the team contributed to important discussions. Responsibilities included: formulating and implementing a basic strategy to drive up site traffic using keywords and tailored content in line with the brand’s mission and voice; pitching, researching, writing and proofreading articles on creative people, art exhibits and products in line with the company’s minimalist aesthetic, as well as editing them in response to feedback from the management team; writing press releases, product descriptions and editing all website copy; general PR, admin, proofreading company emails and taking minutes at meetings.
