Press Assistant: Media Monitoring The Corner Shop PR

In my role as media monitor, I am tasked with collating and distributing coverage to our clients. This includes reading and scanning cuttings from daily newspapers, online and on Twitter. In addition to this, my role requires regular logging of coverage in Excel documents for press assistants and publicists. I assist at press nights, for example the opening of Disney’s Aladdin and An American in Paris. My duties include distributing press tickets and co-ordinating the press for red carpet events. I also maintain Trendkite dashboards for campaigns that include evaluations. I have a confident telephone manner and regularly deal with media and client enquiries. I contribute daily to The Corner Shop’s Twitter.

My duties whilst based in London included researching and updating press contact lists, liaising with the Edinburgh office regarding press accreditation and, in particular, organising the guest list for the London press launch and assisting in the running of the event on the day. During the festival, based in Edinburgh, my duties were focused on facilitating interviews with talent, responding to press enquiries and assisting on the press line at red carpet events. Upon returning to London my chief responsibility was to create a coverage book for presentation to the client.
