About me
I first found my love for print in my final major project at college, where we had free rein to follow our preferred direction. I followed the path of designing printed wallpaper. I was the only one to do this. Despite studying fashion, I followed another direction. I knew I had to do something I was really enthusiastic about; surface and print design. Although this was risky it paid off, achieving a distinction for my final submission. However, the journey I had to make in order to get a professional and effective end result was a challenge. I found myself refining my first group of designs for wallpaper vigorously, exploring colour carefully in order to create designs that worked well together. I also had to source a professional company to print the wallpaper. Working with industry was an exciting experience that gave me an insight into the profession. This process built me the foundations for the skills I later would build on as I progressed onto studying my degree. Continuing this journey at University on Textiles and Surface Design has made me a better designer; as I’ve learnt the importance of getting the colour palette and composition right in order for a design to work effectively, along with a wide-ranging body of new skills. I’ve also seen the benefits of collaborating and working with industry to create professional outcomes alongside participating in live briefs/experiences, such as partaking in producing and exhibiting work at The Bowes Museum. My work usually has a deeper hidden underlying narrative and is inspired by animals, flowers, and the symbolism behind these. My strengths lie in my ability to produce creative and expressive artwork in a commercial way for gift, stationery and homeware and bring in an effective use of digital design which then follows through into my digital work. To produce my artwork, I use a wide range of media from pencils, to promarker’s, collage/mixed media amongst many other forms, which I later refine digitally using various digital software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, FlamePainter4 and Rebelle.

Minor Project - ConnectionsHere are highlight photos from my Minor Project I completed at the start of my third year, which was the module before my Final Major Project (FMP) that carried on through. Minor Project was all about research, developing my concept and creating a body of drawings which I could later continue to develop into finals for my FMP. My concept was the same for Minor and FMP, focusing on spirit animals and the deeper meanings of flowers, linking a deeper narrative behind my concept with our 'connection
  • FMP (Final Major Project) - Connections
FMP (Final Major Project) - ConnectionsMy Final Major Project concept focuses mainly on deeper, spiritual, and personal believes regarding spirit animals and the connections between us, as well as incorporating the meanings of flowers. I have always been fascinated by certain animals and flowers, as if they are communicating a deeper connection or guiding me. To translate my fascination of this, I called my concept ‘connections’, which focuses on this belief of our connections between flowers and spirit animals, in my final collectio
