About me
I'm a journalist and editor, currently writing about startups and tech across Europe for Sifted, a new media site backed by the Financial Times. Before this, I was features editor at Courier magazine. I love hearing about the human side of building businesses – the everyday, behind-the-scenes, pain-in-the-ass and personal victory stuff – and cutting through the hype and bullshit that is so common in the tech media. I also enjoy public speaking. I've hosted the Ada's List conference, run panels on everything from building communities to the future of co-living, and held workshops on how (not) to get media attention. My favourite stories (so far) have covered: - why female founders just don't get that much funding - what's really going on behind the scenes at company builder Entrepreneur First - how Barcelona's chief digital officer Francesca Bria is leading a smart city revolution - Unbound publisher John Mitchinson's management philosophy and pig-farming dilemmas
