Since I graduated in 2010 I have had range of jobs that have given me a broad and variable set of skills and attributes. I have worked in jobs that have developed sales, administrative and service skills and I am now looking to match these with my creative abilities. I have proven myself working under self-motivation or as part of a team, especially under high-pressured circumstances. Thriving in energetic environments I am always eager to develop new working practices and innovative views on the world. Having graduated as an actor I have maintained a creative part of myself as a writer, illustrator and artist. I have undertaken short courses and workshops to help my understanding of the creative process and the importance of its place in our lives. This freelance work has led me to my association with the new immersive events company ‘A Taste of Space’. For them I have repeatedly been involved in the creative development of their projects, most recently their successful commission from ‘Unilever’ for a global brand promotion for Cornetto. I am looking to find a permanent position in a company that values and encourages creative thought so I can use my energy and knowledge to turn innovative ideas into a reality.
I have worked closely with the Artistic Director to add form and structure both creatively and administratively to ideas and help balance the creative development of a piece with it’s marketability and suitability to a given brief. My involvement started with the contribution of early scripts and then evolved to consultation on the practical implications of producing the piece. This included discussion over the team she would need to execute the project, potential budgets and design elements. The most successful of these is the most recent Unilever promotion for Cornetto’s ‘Cupidity’ marketing series which is currently in production and due to be released in the summer of 2015.
My primary role in the business was to maintain a working line of communication between the floor staff, customers and the management. This required me to facilitate the training of staff, assess the effectiveness of the working practices and act as a liaison between customers and management to ensure targets and customer satisfaction were both met.
I have worked consistently with SIIYH on their on going adaptation of Susan Sontags ‘On Photography’. Throughout the year I facilitated creative discussion as an actor and writer to develop the piece. I worked closely with artistic directors on the pieces structure and from which culminated in a showing for the theatre company High Tide at the Junction in Cambridge. The piece went on to gain funding and support from High Tide and the east Anglian arts council.
Part of the creative team that developed the award winning production ‘The Boy With The Cuckoo Clock Heart’ (Winner of the Pleasance theatres Les Enfants Terrible Award) I took on a supportive role in providing constructive feedback to the Artistic Director during the formation of the piece as well as performing in the award winning production.
Working at an establishment at the pinnacle of its field has solidified a professional work ethic where only the highest possible standards are acceptable. With that I have developed a keen eye for details and a solid appreciation of the effective time management required to maintain the efficiencies of the business. Over the 4 years I have been with the Café I have become integral as an adaptable member of a large dynamic team providing support and communication for other members of staff and the management to the highest level. I was entrusted with running the financial aspects of service and held accountable for all the payments and sales during service, banking, and the management of both company and customer accounts. In this role I was also a key to the installation of a new till system and the development and application of training for it. My time front of house at the Café has developed my relationships with high-end customers and associates of the restaurant and the ability to communicate effectively between them.
