Upstairs at Shoreditch Grind is a uniquely designed writing, recording and mixing room in the centre of Shoreditch. First opened in 2012 as a base for the owner's (Kaz James) music projects, and later, for friends of the Grind. Sam Smith, FKA Twigs, Pixie Lott, Tinie Tempah, Hurts and others have all utilised the space to write, record, mix and master music.
I have been the studio manager and head engineer since summer 2014. I've had the fantastic opportunity of being the point of contact for our clients (including record labels, advertising agencies, independent musicians and touring DJs). I'm tasked with the upkeep of the studio, in addition to running sessions from a technical and creative perspective.
