I did an internship with My Common Goods a company that had just started, they hired me to be a designer and design their clothes to put in store at Footasylm. I attended meetings, spoke to clients to get an idea of what they wanted me to design. From this experience, I learnt how to get my design ideas across to the client.
My role as a sales assistant was to make sure that I helped customers out by making sure they left the store satisfied. I have also worked on the tills serving customers and doing night shift deliveries where I tagged and steamed the clothes, and put them out in the store. The merchandiser manager appointed myself to be a team leader; I had to tell my team where the beauty products should be placed. I was asked by the Visual Merchandiser to help set the store.
My role was to serve customers and help them with any inquires they have about the product they have brought, offer advice on how to decorate their house. I demonstrated excellent listening skills anticipate or advising the customer, this offers being decisive.
During this work experience I had to set up a catwalk for the models to walk down, making sure that it was presentable for the public. As a result of, I was able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, being part of a team helped me to develop my team working skills; I was able to demonstrate excellent communication skills. Greeting the public and attending to anyone who had questions I was able to demonstrate excellent listening and communication skills. Also greeting the public, which shows communication, as I had to attend to anyone who had questions or queries about the show. Nearer to the end of the show I handed out goody bags to the public and thanked them for coming to the show.
My main role was to attend to the designers and assist them in setting up their stalls, making sure it looked smart and appealing to the public. I leant about selling techniques and also how to present the products the designers were selling.
My role in this youth was to act as the teacher’s assistant by listening to the children read in Arabic and also teaching them the pronunciation of each letter. In the last half an hour of the session I would read an educating, religious story to the children. From this experience I have learnt time management skills and also organisation by making sure everything is in order before the class arrives and arriving promptly or before the class.
