About me
London-based Menswear designer and print maker with a keen interest in merging creative cutting approaches with fabric manipulation techniques. Finding inspiration from subcultures and the minorities of society, the collections are built around a character, in the hope that the collection will tell a story. My work is very emotive and has a sense of rebellion about it, reflecting what dominantly my collections stem from, a character/ collective that do not fit in with the norm. Throughout my most recent three projects, surface print and fabric manipulation have dominated my collections, working with embroidery, laser cutting and different forms of print. I have a very strong eye for colour and a heavy attention to detail. Confident computer skills, but also strong in hand-rendered designs. I have worked with a range of teams in different settings. I'm adaptable and hard-working, equally at ease working independently or as part of a team. I'm calm and good-humoured under pressure and this has stood me in good stead in my degree studies, internships and most recently GFW. Having recently graduated from the University for the Creative Arts, I am now looking to further my education in an industry setting.
Projects
  • Locals Only
Locals OnlyMy graduate collection initially developed from, coinciding with other projects, a group of people. California 1970's is the focal point for the collection, in particular the movement from surfing to skateboarding. The colour series of Burgundy, Stone Blue and Pastel Yellow was inspired by the detailing on the flannel t0shirts and tube socks which seemed to be the dominant uniform for this subculture along with oversized trousers and sweatbands. I found it interesting how the bottom of a skateboard was like a work of art, a collection of stickers and graphics which resulted in taking a heavily textile based approach to the project. Key garments for the collection were inspired by the 1970's Californian climbers. The cutting approach therefore stemmed from initially draping a sleeping bag and taking detailing from it including the draw string and oversized pockets.
