I led the promotional merchandising on the 8 grocery accounts for Maybelline and Boots and Superdrug for Essie. The project management role within Maybelline allowed me to standardise the process, increasing its efficiency for all stakeholders and work with autonomy; whereas working on Essie allowed me to show my creative side. I loved working with the new visuals each period, collaborating with the marketing team and creating new structures for the new collections and campaigns
I had full control of the grocery promotional budget for Maybelline and introduced policies for cost and waste saving.
I also ran two head office takeovers at Tesco and Superdrug that instigated relationship building between the retail, marketing, and commercial teams. I worked with a creative agency to produce the display elements of the brand and included ideas for engagement with the employees to spread the excitement of the new product launches. It also gave us, as a brand, consumer insight into our product education and allowed us to see how successful our campaigns were being communicated
Engaging in competitor analysis was a major part of my job, on a 3-week basis I went into stores to take photos of new POS each period and keep track of the actions of our main competitors. Additionally, I monitored the rollout of the high street's merchandising tiling system into Sainsbury's and tracked its success. From my analysis, I was able to make recommendations for improvements to the stand to the Merchandising Manager and the result was triple-digit growth of the brand in the new stores
I initiated a transformation of promotional merchandising in grocery, looking at amending the material and structures of the POS to increase sustainability. This new initiative has the potential of saving over £100K if rolled out across all grocery accounts in 1 year and would save 9 tonnes of cardboard. Not only a huge profitability success but an environmental one too!
