I think of myself as film generalist, with a strong passion for storytelling and crafting captivating imagery and stories. With a strong background in narrative storytelling that I have harnessed in the commercial and music video world. As a filmmaker I often find myself drawn to roles beyond my staple of writing and direction, and find myself working in the cutting room, using my knowledge of VFX programs such as After Effects and Fusion, colour correction skills within Davinci Resolve and animation in Cinema4D to further enhance my projects.
Where I absolutely love getting my hands dirty and chipping in where needed., I also thrive in a team environment where I find the collaborative process an exhilarating and inspiring place to be.
Recently my work has seen my travel the globe, working with large Hollywood level crews in non-English speaking countries where I have lead projects from the fore, overcoming language barriers to cast and work with actors and members of the film department in high pressure situations. That could be on a high-end film set in Bulgaria or on location in the deserts of Morocco and beyond.
While my talents have usually led me to narrative live-action pieces, I have recently found myself working in stop-motion realm for a series of Asda and beauty commercials with Saatchi & Saatchi. Here, I apply the very same storytelling techniques to a new medium with great effect. I am a firm believer that the art of story-telling knows no boundaries, whether that be in film, stop-motion, photography or animation. These are the worlds I am most interested in occupying.
Projects
- Safia - My Love is GoneMusic video for Australian artists Safia, filmed on location in Morocco. Here I worked with the team behind the Moroccan locations of Game of Thrones to create this surrealist drama. My role as director saw me working with a group of 50+ professionals in a foreign country, working with actors despite language barriers and crafting a concept with the feedback of the record label. I also edited the promo and carried out VFX work such as sky replacements and added smoke effects within Blackmagic Fu
