About me

Antonia Penia is a visual artist that works in photography, video, and performance art. She was born in Galicia, Spain, and has been based in London, UK, since 2010. Through exploring and insinuating her self-image, she began to create intimate, sensual and provocative images to explore identity, gender, and social and cultural status. She explores her sexual expression with her first work, ' Leave Me Alone' (2004). With her sensual and powerful underwater film series' Symbiosis of Liquid dreams', she won 'The Young Creator of the Year Award' at Feria de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid (2008). She began to work for Spain’s most elite erotic publications. She claimed her first Playboy cover at the age of 26. Her work has been shaped by these disparate feelings of longing, loss, mental health, censorship, and her connection to the natural and spiritual world. She is challenging the history of patriarchy and the abuse of power through gender across her life. She believes in equality, and she fights for her rights. Antonia’s radical, intense, passionate, and energetic personality helps her to be able to have her creative vision and expression. Portrait Of Britain 2022, Winner. Antonia has two MA's in Arts.
