Whilst in New York, I also assisted photographer and director Dominick Sheldon on photoshoots in studios and outdoor film shoots. My time was spent running errands and assisting anyone on set who needed help. This taught me to stay on my feet in the workplace and use my initiative when dealing with difficult or new situations.
I spent a busy week assisting Set Designer, Whitney Hellessen gathering props, creating and building sets for both commercial photo shoots and a short movie set.
Before I became a part of the team at Oyster, I spent three months in New York as an unpaid production intern for photographer Mark Seliger. The work was very varied and I had to cope with whatever needed doing on the day, working with new people and using my initiative in new situations. Production responsibilities included: - Assisting busy photo shoots - Phoning clients and answering phones - Running errands - Updating job folders and archiving jobs - Creating reference folders for photo shoots - Organising flights and transport
I started my time at Oyster Healthcare as a production apprentice in 2013. Not long after my year as apprentice, I became part of the design team at Oyster. During the four years I spent here, I learnt a lot about assistance and customer service. My main responsibilities varied largely through design projects and general administration tasks, whilst helping out wherever necessary. Customer service and assistance roles included answering the phone and communicating with a broad range of clients, serving and helping them efficiently and in a friendly manner. Responsibilities included: - Keeping department managers and colleagues up-to-date with current jobs - Using InDesign to layout magazines and other publications - Website content management - Email marketing - E-learning programmes - Picture Research, resizing images and maintaining images using Photoshop - Answering phones and calling clients - Managing magazine mailing - Updating job folders and archiving jobs - Ordering office supplies - Keeping the office clean and organised
