As a Head Group Leader I had responsibilities across a specific age range which changed from week to week. Working with 5 year olds through to teenagers allowed me to understand different dynamics and interests in different age ranges. As well as organising, running and taking part in enjoyable activities, I was responsible for ensuring child safety (of up to 30+ children) at all times during the day. Along with is key responsibility I was also responsible for day to day registration and liaising with individual parents to resolve issues or any other requirements. Through the day I would be in constant contact with management to ensure child welfare and also be kept in loop of any important throughout the day. I also would have several members of staff to instruct and aid me in running activities and ensuring children were having and enjoyable time. Though just a summer job, this position taught me a lot about handling conflict, problem solving and adaptability. * I was recently selected, and successfully interviewed for a role in management
During my placement year I worked for a design consultancy designing athletic apparel. Clients included worldwide brands such as Sci-Mx, Met-Rx and Protein Dynamix. Briefs included working to client specifications and also creative idea generation to produce unique and stylish ranges of mens and womens clothing. As well as working in Photoshop, Indesign and mainly Illustrator to produce clothing designs, other items such as swing tags, brochures and sizing labels were also produced. As well as working with Adobe Creative Cloud to produce designs, client meetings were also part of my role to understand exactly what was needed from a brief. Using existing samples and order samples was also key to produce the correct styling and sizes of clothes. Other roles included producing social media content and also designing and executing a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Liquid Ideas is a leading Sydney based PR firm for whom I worked as an intern with for over half a year. Working in the design department came with a number of responsibilities. One of the largest projects undertaken was creating content and filling/editing the front end of the new company website. As well as using Creative Cloud to edit content I had to talk with back end developers to ensure the site ran correctly, check copy text and ensure it was the correct format, and more. Other work whilst at Liquid Ideas included producing printed and web designs for clients. This included invites, send outs, social media content, help in video editing, assisting in photoshoots, event idea generation and other graphic design roles. Design of beach clothing and casual surf clothing was also undertaken for a brand which included using brand guidelines and talking with senior designers. Whilst working at Liquid Ideas I produced work for clients including Kelloggs, Nutri-grain and Unilever. Producing work for these international brands made me become focused on details and ensuring all produced work was perfect.
