About me
Originally from Yorkshire, Ash Holdsworth taught himself photography by shooting live bands and weirdos in his home town of Leeds. He also had - and still has, a fetish for historical architecture and further developed his camera skills by crawling around dirty old buildings. Through some stroke of luck his 'hobby' managed to get him photographing an Advertising campaign for Britains favorite tea time soap 'Emmerdale'.
Upon realising that he probably didn't actually know everything or more likely anything technical, he moved to Sydney to do the hard yard and to dedicate his life to photography ...and maybe learn some stuff.
He began assisting some major players in commercial photography on high end shoots as well as landing a job shooting all day long with medium format film. He spent his time not only dribbling over the Hasselblads but also learning studio lighting and the rules and techniques behind photographic theory.
Ash has since worked on some ridiculous shoots, for ridiculous clients, with ridiculous people and still regularly pinches himself. He has been published in Marie Claire, Cleo, Drum Media, Sports Pilot and Time out Sydney.
He shoots (not only, but mostly) the following: Portraiture, Music press, Fashion, Corporate, Event, Product and Art.
Ash has since returned to the UK.
