About me
Having just received a Masters in International Journalism (Leeds University), with a BA in English I am now proactively looking for opportunities to gain experience and insight into the following industries:
- Publishing
- Copyright
- Media
- Film and TV
I have always loved reading and so my passion for literature sparked an interest to study English at Uni and to do so away from home, was an incredible experience. Bristol is such a culturally diverse city and is slowly becoming a hub in itself! Unfortunately due to the pandemic I was unable to explore Leeds during my Masters but nevertheless had a great time delving into my dissertation and post-grad.
Being of Iranian heritage, I have always been particularly fascinated by other cultures. I've been fortunate to be exposed to world cinema from a young age, and keep up to date with new documentaries, series and films etc.
Would love to gain working experience within media/film/publishing to help launch my career journey.

BA (Hons) English LiteratureThe University of the West of England
- Bristol, United Kingdom
At UWE, Bristol I studied English BA Hons for three years and graduated Nov 2018 with a 2.2.
Here I was exposed to many different authors, styles of literature, genres, critical theories and theorists, all my lecturers were very passionate and knowledgeable in their field.
Some of the modules I studied were Children's Fiction Since 1900, Fiction in Britain Since the 1970s, Gothic Literature and the EIP.
I found all of these modules very fascinating, in Children's, we looked at society's hypocritical view on the simplicity of Children's literature but as we delved in deeper, many of the texts contained dark themes of drugs, female sexuality, FGM and death. It was awesome to study and closely read some of my favourite books as a child, as well as, being introduced to more contemporary Children's literature.
Fiction in Britain was interesting in analysing the change of novels in the 1970s and post 1970, with the debate of the death of the novel, immigration and ideas of Englishness.
I was module rep for the Gothic module, which meant that I had to collect feedback from my peers and present this to the Head of English, and the information gathered would then be used to improve the module.
Out of all my third-year modules, the EIP was by far the most challenging, stressful and terrifying! As a final year student, I had to write a dissertation on my chosen topic - I decided upon Stephen King and it was titled, 'An exploration of the Gothic and child within Stephen King's Horror novels The Shining, IT and Carrie. This particular module really helped improve my time management and organisational skills and further develop my analytical, proofreading, research and writing skills. I was over the moon and felt extremely proud to be able to achieve a 2.1 for my dissertation whilst juggling my other studies.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at UWE, I learnt and grew so much by being away from home and gained plenty of skills. Bristol is such a culturally diverse city and very beautiful, I enjoyed visiting the town centre and walking around, seeing the Clifton Suspension Bridge and walking by the picturesque harbour.

Business EnterpriseEast Berkshire College Windsor
At East Berkshire College in Windsor, I studied my A-levels - English, History and Media Studies.
During the summer term just before the holidays, we had a compulsory event to attend and were split into many groups and had to decide on a business idea/plan for the college. As a group, we all decided that our college was lacking in entertainment for its students to enjoy together, therefore we thought that a room filled with fun activities was the way forward. After we had made a Business plan, we were then allocated a slot to pitch our ideas in front of a panel, who would then ask questions and ultimately judge our plan.
My group was recognised as one of the winners of the competition and it was a great opportunity to gain confidence, improve my presentation and public speaking skills, teamwork and gain some insight into Business Enterprise.
