Milwaukee born Austn Fischer is a photographer whose practice explores the nuanced picture of gender, intimacy and class in modern American life. Using his own personal experience of family trauma, he first turned his camera to documenting teens from Wisconsin who found themselves estranged from popular views and their ability to speak and have a voice. As Fischer began to take on fashion assignments, his practice found a new direction. In new ongoing works like ‘American Sugar’, he mixes collaboration, set design and performance to unpick myths of American masculinity. Austn is currently studying at the University of the Arts London pursuing a BA in fine art photography.

- 'Young in America' Editorial Cap74024We shot this editorial for Cap74024 to present alternative depictions of gender. Shot by Austn Fischer, we wanted to explore masculinity and femininity in duality, in an environment that typically has rigid and defined gender roles. The make-up was done by Sunao Takahashi, the set design by Lily Soede and hair by Nicola Harrowell.
- 'Yokai' Editorial Sicky MagazineThis editorial for Sicky Magazine was styled by myself and shot by Austn Fischer with make-up by Chloe Botting. The editorial is titled 'Yokai' which comes from ancient Japanese folklore.
