About me
A designer experienced in leading projects from the first sketches to finished consumer products. For me, design is making things that work beautifully, sit comfortably in the world they inhabit and improve our daily lives. I began my career working with design consultancies, specialising in installation and events for national museums and artists. I then set up my own consultancy ONN Studio, focussing on research projects, product design and development before co-founding OME a smart home product startup. I now work as a freelance designer. If you have a collaboration in mind, please feel free to get in touch.

  • Ome Smart Doorbell, Photography
Ome Smart Doorbell, PhotographyFilm has been a prominent part of my work from the start of my career. Film and photography can be a wonderful tool for distilling complex ideas into an easy-to-understand visual form of communicating. I’m experienced in creative direction, directing, shooting and editing. My film work spans from showreels, project promos and documentation to pitches, product adverts, how to and customer support films. In 2017, I was creative lead on our product photoshoot at Ome, in charge of creative direc
  • Ome Smart Doorbell, Branding
Ome Smart Doorbell, BrandingIn 2015 myself and my partner John Nussey, started our own smart home company, as a side project to our consultancy business ONN Studio. We set out to create smart home products that were simple and intuitive to use, worked with the interior and exterior of your home and weren’t overly technical to use or look at. Our first product was our smart doorbell, initially branded ‘Ding’. We chose the name because it was intuitive to the product’s use and simplicity. By collaborating with Common Works
  • Ome Smart Doorbell, Product Design
Ome Smart Doorbell, Product DesignThe project began with a rudimentary technical prototype for proof of concept. From there we developed initial user experience and paper prototypes, based around a modular design, which allowed users to add on different functionalities by adding different functions to the base product, for example, adding a microphone, speaker or video module.
  • Oyster Cards for Hens
Oyster Cards for HensAt ONN Studio we were commissioned by FAI Farms to carry out a research project to design a smart hen coop, which would explore the laying habits of hens. A project we aptly named ‘Oyster cards for hens’. In collaboration with Bobby Peterson, we designed a series of prototype coops, testing each coop in situ, studying results and developing improvements in the next iteration. We had to make sure the hens were as comfortable using the smart coop as they were their regular coops and that we could
  • Big Bang Data
Big Bang DataWe were commissioned by Somerset House and Future Cities Catapult to work on the design, engineering and build for a piece within the ‘Big Bang Data’ exhibition at Somerset House. We worked closely with Future Cities who had built a digital game that allows the user to design their own city, through a series of questions. The game illustrated the complexity and difficulty in balancing the development of a city, for example, if you chose to have lots of green space in your city, it might result
  • Folk Lamps
Folk LampsAs a part of our consultancy ONN Studio, we were commissioned by Folk to design and build a set of interior lamps. The system was modular, using the same lamp head and a bespoke clamp system, which could be configured to make desk, floor, or chandelier arrangements. I was particularly involved in the product photoshoot, project management, the production line and quality control. We made over 100 lamps in our workshop, working with UK-based brass craftsmen for the cast lamp heads and clamps, oa

  • D&AD
D&ADThis project combines a multi media branding scheme across three events for D&AD. For the Student Awards exhibition we created a series of sixteen interactive tables, each with a brief laser etched into the wooden surface. The nominated student work was shown in an embedded touchscreen. For the awards ceremony we created onscreen graphics, incorporating a sound reactive element that danced to specially commissioned music. For the three events we created three distinct identities which were appli
