About me
During my recently completed studies at Central Saint Martins I concerned myself with the use objects, sound, video and performance in a space and how they relate to time, as a fourth dimension. The reason I chose this pathway was because I wanted to further explore and extend my interest and knowledge in sculptural, spacial and site specific three dimensional world. I participated in solo and group performances, immersive theatre and sound- scape projects. My earliest encounter with art and design goes back to my primary school age. As a six year old, I started to attend the primary art and music school parallel to the general primary school. It became my hobby and lifelong activity to design and fabricate functional and decorative objects. Later, I established a workshop for wooden furniture making and restoration of period furniture. Part of my business was tree surgery, where my responsibility was to manage a team, coordinate assignments, and to complete jobs within the agreed deadlines. In this role I gained experience in dealing with stressful situations, and sorting out unexpected problems. During my first two years at the university I engaged with many techniques, practice based projects in painting, sculpture, print making, photography, film and video. I further gained a thorough knowledge in the history and theory of art, design and architecture. Throughout my university studies I developed in depth IT skills, mainly processing and editing a still image, graphic, sound and video work, which I am keen to develop. I have years of experience in many different fields, all of these involving transferable skills, such as, customer service, good organisational skills and effective communication. I am able to keep calm under pressure or in a stressful situation as I have experienced this whilst working as Art project facilitator.
Projects
  • Age of Anxiety
Age of AnxietyThe making of this video was inspired by the piece of Leonard Bernstein: Symphony No2, The Age of Anxiety (after W. H. Auden), and the economic crisis. I had not planned a meaningful work, at least not in the sense of a piece whose meaning relied on details of programmatic implication. I had merely shot, and edited a video piece inspired by Bernstein’s Symphony, where I intended to match and reflect with the story line of the visuals to the atmosphere what Bernstein created. My other purpose with this piece was to study and practice sound structures. This led me to other pieces that I am happy to show and talk through.
  • SILHOUETTEThe Silhouette performance was a larger format piece that was showcased in front of an audience in Richard Wentworth’s Black Maria. The sound structure and context remained improvised, but the previous communication of the two sound performers is extended to a six movement artists collaboration. The movement intuitively, and randomly responds to the audio, and vice-versa. The audience experienced an unforgettably immersive show through the interaction of the performers and dynamics of this live event.
