About me
My name is Ben Jamieson, and I am a BA Broadcast and Digital Journalism student at the London School of Film, Media, and Design. During my first year as a Journalism student with UWL, I discovered the MNGR; a student-led music magazine, multimedia, and events platform promoting LCM talent and the UK DIY scene. I initially took an interest in the MNGR due to it being the largest student media publication within UWL, as well as the closest thing the university has to a student newspaper. After submitting articles for the MNGR’s October and December issues, I was elected Head of Editorial. Four months later, after writing a series of reviews and interviews for the MNGR website and print issues, I would be elected President. As President I was responsible for the continued functioning of the MNGR, and for ensuring successful communication between all its members. I have also established Devilcorp Review; an investigative journalism website focused on raising awareness of the manipulation, deceit, and exploitation present within the Direct Marketing Industry.

Experience and Responsibilities: • Write reviews of music from LCM students, alumni, and external artists • Conduct and transcript interviews with Artists, both within UWL and on site at gigs • Proofread articles and write Editor’s note for magazine’s March Issue • Communicating with Vice of Editorial and President to ensure magazine is delivered Key Achievement: • Due to being overloaded with review submissions, and 6 months’ worth of emails from both external artists and LCM students not being processed, the MNGR was unable to properly receive communications regarding reviews or to post reviews themselves. In order to fix this, I catalogued each submission, decided upon which tracks to review moving forward, and wrote these reviews myself
