Bernice Mulenga is a British -Congolese photographer with a distinct aptitude for archiving, documenting and interrogating the world around them. Mulenga’s work centres on their community and the experiences within it—most notably in their ongoing photo series #friendsonfilm. Their work also explores reoccurring themes surrounding identity, sexuality, grief, darkness and family.
Mulenga has been showcasing their work for several years, most notably at 1:54 art fair, Photo50, Photo Oxford, The Whitechapel Art Gallery, Afropunk NY & LDN, V&A and most recently exhibited at Gathering.
As well as being a photographer, Mulenga is a key contributor to queer/London nightlife. Nearing an almost decade long contribution, they now are working on an a platform focusing, amplifying and centring Black LGBTQIA+ through UNTITLED WORLDWIDE.
