About me
Bethany Hill is a self confessed, Documentary Photographer, studying at the University of Westminster in London. Originally from Carlisle in Cumbria, she moved to London at the start of her studies in 2013. The context of her work usually explores social constructs, for example exploring gender and sexuality in her recent project Coming Full Circle, where she explores the LGBT* community of her home county of Cumbria. Projects
  • Pride
PrideA Accumulation of Images I have Photographed over the years at a variety of Pride Celebrations. This will also be ongoing project.
  • The Queer Folk
The Queer FolkThis is a ongoing project, in which I started photographing a close friend, throughout his transition. This started in September 2014 and was photographed on media format film on the Mamiya RB67. This has branched to Photographing more of my LGBT, Queer, nonconforming peers, and I'll try and upload as much as I can! If you would like to be part of the project (which is all about celebrating the diversity, richness and the many personalities within the LGBTQ community,) please email me on the email address shown on my profile.
  • Uganda
UgandaThis is a trip I went on through my sixth form in 2012. I feel these images are important, as this trip is how I discovered my love for shooting documentary images. We went to two schools around Kampala; the Sskau Secondary School and the Najjera Progressive School, where we met students, assisted in teaching and were invited to some students houses. These images were all shot on a very old and cheap dlsr that I got second hand a year before, yet I still love the images I collected from that time.

It is a web-based platform and series of developing projects around the U.K. The contextual starting point is the nine protected characteristics of Equality, as defined by the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Due to my work surrounding LGBT* issues, I have been invited to be part of the kick-staring project.
