As a BA (Textile Design) graduate with 3 years international design work experience I would be excited about any opportunities coming my way, even to relocate.
I believe I could contribute with technical expertise, industry insight and a broad skill set. I recently completed an abroad internship at MESH (Maximizing Employment to Serve the Handicapped) in Delhi, in collaboration with IMFT (Individuell Människohjälp FairTrade). During my months in Delhi I worked at MESH head office as a designer. My responsibilities varied from designing posters and print collateral, to designing prints, shibori cushion covers and additional textile products. One of the main projects I completed was to design an elephant soft toy for children. Following a brief from IMFT I developed multiple samples of the toy along with prints for it. After approval and solving construction challenges, I traveled to the Hubli Hospital for the Handicapped and taught the manufactures how to produce the elephant correctly and timely. I believe these experiences sets me up to be able to perform well from the get-go.
Furthermore, I spent time at Åhléns assisting their kids department designer. At Åhléns I got to design prints, clothing and home wares for babies, toddlers and kids. In the kids department team I was able to understand how a large commercial company functions, understand the design process within a this setting and develop my skills in pattern-making and communication with manufacturers. I believe these experiences allow me to contribute with expertise and inspiration.
To me, the opportunity to build upon my previous experiences in a context that I am passionate about would be exciting.
