About me

As a BA (Textile Design) graduate with 3 years international design work experience I would be excited about any opportunities coming my way, even to relocate. I believe I could contribute with technical expertise, industry insight and a broad skill set. I recently completed an abroad internship at MESH (Maximizing Employment to Serve the Handicapped) in Delhi, in collaboration with IMFT (Individuell Människohjälp FairTrade). During my months in Delhi I worked at MESH head office as a designer. My responsibilities varied from designing posters and print collateral, to designing prints, shibori cushion covers and additional textile products. One of the main projects I completed was to design an elephant soft toy for children. Following a brief from IMFT I developed multiple samples of the toy along with prints for it. After approval and solving construction challenges, I traveled to the Hubli Hospital for the Handicapped and taught the manufactures how to produce the elephant correctly and timely. I believe these experiences sets me up to be able to perform well from the get-go. Furthermore, I spent time at Åhléns assisting their kids department designer. At Åhléns I got to design prints, clothing and home wares for babies, toddlers and kids. In the kids department team I was able to understand how a large commercial company functions, understand the design process within a this setting and develop my skills in pattern-making and communication with manufacturers. I believe these experiences allow me to contribute with expertise and inspiration. To me, the opportunity to build upon my previous experiences in a context that I am passionate about would be exciting.

Projects

• Crystallis In developing my creativity I explored fashion through a speculative collection project. Inspired by crystals, this collection aims to challenge norms by combining soft and hard with modest cuts and wrap details.
• Elephant Set of elephant soft toys printed or dyed. These products were developed to create fair work opportunities for marginalised people in India in collaboration with MESH, IMFT and Hubli Hospital for the Handicapped.
• Spice Garden Three sets of printed tea towels for the Swedish and international markets. These prints were designed on behalf of MESH in Delhi and for the client IMFT in Sweden.
