I am a Senior Designer at FEED, based in Shoreditch, London. Please check out my portfolio for examples of my work. http://www.brianwalker.co.uk
I have been involved in a variety of projects at FEED for clients such as eBay, Monica Vinader, Gumtree, Stubhub, Hearst Magazines, among others. However my main role now lies in being a floating creative pitching for new work and as lead designer on two accounts, Temenos and Tiosk. I client face for both while ensuring brand integrity and guardianship of both accounts but also push these forward at every given opportunity. My extra responsibilities also include interviewing candidates, spreading my design expertise throughout the team when giving feedback on designs and effective line management of my small allocated team.
My job was mainly digital based and centered on the design of landing pages, emails, site campaigns and social media content. I was highly regarded in this role and was given the added responsibility of mentoring our least experienced junior designer who I assisted on a daily basis. I was also responsible for many larger scale projects, including a full packaging revamp and the layout and design of our retail space at the Spirit of Christmas exhibition at the Olympia Centre in London.
I freelanced here while working part-time at Hamleys toy store. My main roles within this design agency involved working within the creative team contributing to design ideas and campaigns, as well as designing and art working on various projects. I was also given sole responsibility for certain briefs. Within this position I was fortunate enough to work with the client and administration teams, the copywriter and the art director. This role greatly enhanced my commercial awareness of graphic design in the real world compared to that of in college, with an emphasis being on how much more quickly and efficiently I have learned and am required to work.
This was a full time summer job where I gained experience in a graphic design corporate environment. I worked as a Creative Services Specialist supporting senior members of staff using my problem solving skills to creatively translate technical information into effective visual concepts for brochures, tender documentation and business graphics. I designed and produced a variety of work to support client needs including maps, logos, charts, data interpretation, and internal presentations as well as performing desktop publishing activities.
This was a 2-week work experience placement undertaken during the Easter holidays that helped me gain knowledge of working in a design studio environment. I worked on a live brief with fellow designers from start to finish, participated in discussion groups with senior designers and art directors regarding research to a particular brief and also assisted them with various other tasks involved in everyday studio life.
