Visual Artist Bruno Martelli has over 20 years of experience in technology and interdisciplinary research within higher education and industry sectors at national and international levels. He is a graduate of RMIT University Melbourne, holding a joint PhD in immersive and kinaesthetic practice. Martelli has worked as an artist-researcher on the Goldsmiths EPSRC-funded '4i: Immersive Interaction design for Indie Developers with Interactive machine learning.' For this role, he was involved in the design of an open-source gesture-recognising toolkit for VR software developers. Martelli also develops an open-source motion capture streaming software plugin for Unreal, 'MotionRiver' for high-end mocap systems - the goal is to increase the sustainability of performance whilst reaching remote audiences. Collaborating with Ruth Gibson as Gibson/Martelli, the artists have a range of multidisciplinary experiences across physical and digital formats, including live dance, theatre, artists moving image, animation, exhibition, costuming for performance, fashion, virtual reality and social media. Many projects are sensory experiences that enable the spectator to experience inner mimesis. BAFTA-nominated, his work features in numerous exhibitions and festivals, including the 52nd Venice Biennale. Winner of the Lumen Prize for Digital Art. In 2022 his virtual reality work was exhibited at the 79th Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia and The 66th BFI London Film Festival.

- Expanded Fields2019 Moving image installation with live performance, sound and virtual reality. The installation invites audiences into proximity with a piece of choreography, to encounter the inner worlds, images, sounds and sensations that dancers experience in the performance of a moment of dance. Recreating the optimistic, rebellious spirit of the 1919 Chelsea Arts Club Dazzle Ball at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring eye-catching costumes inspired by WW1 naval camouflage.
